About
Wilco's Bees is a small beekeeping company run by Will in Farnborough, Hampshire, UK. I started keeping bees in 2019 and currently manage a number of colonies at several apiaries dotted around the local area. Besides my own colonies, I sell beekeeping equipment and offer commercial and private beekeeping services locally, including talks on bees, beekeeping and biodiversity.
The honey from my bees is extracted hive by hive, meaning any jar of my honey contains honey from a single hive- no mixing or blending (except for Baker's honey). Once extracted, the honey is strained to remove any small bits of wax and other contaminants before being jarred or stored until jarring. If it sets (as most good honey does eventually), the honey may be warmed to re-liquefy it. If I do this; I ensure that it is only heated to a temperature it would naturally reach within the hive, preserving the action of any enzymes within it.
Additionally, I occasionally hand produce beeswax candles and make scented container candles using renewably sourced soy wax. In 2024 I hope to offer nucleus colonies for sale; these will be British reared colonies and queens. Please get in touch if you have any queries.
